Collecting Booking Fees

Reduce no-shows and secure commitment by collecting a booking fee when customers accept your quote. This feature helps qualify serious customers.

Why Collect Booking Fees?

  • Reduce no-shows - Customers who pay are committed
  • Cover materials - Secure funds for upfront costs
  • Qualify leads - Serious customers will pay a deposit
  • Improve cash flow - Get paid before you start work

Setting Up Booking Fees

Step 1: Enable Booking Fees

Go to Settings → Payments → Booking Fees and enable the feature.

Step 2: Choose Your Fee Type

Select how you want to calculate booking fees:

  • Percentage - e.g., 20% of quote total
  • Fixed amount - e.g., $100 flat fee
  • Custom per quote - Set different fees for each quote

Step 3: Configure Defaults

Set your default booking fee percentage or amount. You can override this on individual quotes when needed.

Recommended Amounts

Most tradies charge between 10-30% as a booking deposit. For larger jobs, a fixed call-out fee of $50-$150 works well. Find what works for your trade and customer base.

How It Works for Customers

When a customer accepts your quote, they are prompted to pay the booking fee immediately. The fee is deducted from the final invoice automatically.

Managing Booking Fees

  • View all collected fees in your Payments dashboard
  • Booking fees are automatically applied to final invoices
  • Issue refunds if needed through your Stripe dashboard
